I have one of the most amazing careers ever? I just love what I do? My mom and daddy bought me my first camera when I was 14 for a high school photography class and it was then that something just clicked..I knew what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I shot my first wedding when I was just 15 ( yep, believe it, I couldn't even drive). After teaching a high school photography class I enrolled at the famed school of brooks institute of photography. It is here that I perfected my talent and my love of capturing..you not only through emotion and dramatic light but by capturing the true personality behind your kids. After graduating from Brooks I opened the doors of "jenny leigh photography" first in california and now home, in Dallas Texas. I have two of the most amazing gals that are starting to work with me so explore "meet the crew" to read all about them! The studio is located right in my home so while we are getting silly with the kiddos mom and dad can relax in the media room where there are a ton of albums and cards for you to look at and a'hem not to mention a giant tiv..not that dad would care but you know..I can't wait to meet you so come on over!
I love what I do! I happen to think I have the best career ever. I am a Dallas photographer specializing in maternity, newborn, children and family photography. I get all types of questions every day from every one of my clients so I have decided to let you in on a few secrets about me.... Where are you from? I was born in El Paso Texas but moved to California after high school. I lived there almost 8 years when I decided to make the move back to Texas in order to become closer to my family. Did you go to school for photography? I attended one of the most prestigious schools for photography in the nation. Brooks Institute of Photography is located in Santa Barbara California. I studied and completed my degree in three years. How old were you when you started photography? Thirteen years ago I started a high school photography class and from that I was hired to shoot my first wedding at just age 15. The funny thing about shooting that particular wedding was that I had to get a ride to the actual wedding since I was not legal to drive yet. Thirteen years later I am living in Dallas with my privately owned studio. What is your worst fear? That one of my clients wouldn't be happen with their images. I take pride in what I do and every little detail is big enough to pay attention too. Who do I admire? Children! Children have this innocence about them. I love to hear the things they come up with even if they are make believe. What do I love most? Family time. I grew up very close with my parents and sisters and I look forward to seeing them and spending time with them and.....CANDY, its true I love anything tart ( skittles, sour patch kids...yes I am addicted) What do you love doing when you're not working? Hands down my guilty pleasure is seeing a movie in the middle of the day. I love theaters when I am almost the only in there. I always wait weeks to see a movie after a premier.
Varaya just moved here with her fiance a few months ago all the way from california. We actually have a funny story of how we met. We went to school together but didn't know each other, and we met for the first time when she answered my ad for a second shooter/assistant (small world, right?). She rocks, and I am so excited to have her shooting with me - but first, she's off to get married in November! Jess, like Varaya, is also brand new to Dallas. She moved here with her husband all the way from Ohio (holy coldness is all I can say). Jess also answered the ad I posted, and is an amazing photographer as well. How lucky am I to have found two such awesome people? Well, maybe they found me.
We love photographing expecting moms, newborns and all of our bigger kiddos. While sessions are not dictated by time most will run about two hours however our newborn session typically run the longest giving plenty of time for diaper changes and feedings. Maternity sessions are usually best around your 7th month, you still feel great yet you are looking very pregnant. Newborns photograph best within the first few weeks of like so please call me while you are still pregnant to book your new born session as we book about 4 weeks out. After our session we will make a proofing appointment for you to come back to the studio to view all your images. This is such an exciting time as this is the first time you get to see everything! At the proofing session I will go over sizes, prices and all of my really awesome additions like gallery wraps and framing series. After our appointment your images will go up in a private online gallery that will be live for 15 days or until your order by date. Orders may be placed via phone, email or by your online gallery through a secure server. Of course, if you have any questions or need extra assistance, I am always here to help you out.

The session is booked and now you get to be really excited. But then..the dreaded question raises: "What on earth are we going to wear?" Undoubtedly you know the basic portrait rules: You can't go wrong with solid colors, that you probably don't want 40 photogs of little man in his superman t-shirt...(well maybe just a few since he loves it so much), and that ginormous bow on little misses head might be too distracting from her little personality so where to go from here? worry no more - not only will I go over ideas with you but right after you book you will receive a really fun what to wear guide, that I have put together. Maternity Sessions: Always remember simple is better...its all about the belly and I think bellies are just beautiful. You should bring fitted tank tops, low waisted yoga pants (black looks best), Pre maternity jeans (your not supposed to be able to button them) and for the dad just think trendy, colorful and fun designs. Newborn sessions: for your new little guy or gal you don't need much at all. Just come prepared to take care of him/her. Please bring something that is all black for the family, we get to be really creative with this. I'll discuss more of this with you when we book your session. Can't wait to see you!
